Student-Adult partnerships for learning Regional Education Alternatives Laboratory (REAL) at Havermill H.S. Using Glasser’s The Quality School as a philosophical basis, this 30-year-old school offers an integrated curriculum to 60 students. “Students participate in all aspects of creating their own educational environment.” Students work with teachers to determine curricular topics and engage students as peer mediators throughout the school, and more.  Member of the Quality Schools Consortium.

Student-designed learning Practicum in Community Involvement (PICI) is a 2 semester course emphasizing student-driven community-based learning.

Student-designed learning Student Leadership Program at Office of Secondary Education for Migrant Youth (SEMY) - Offers migrant students the opportunity to design their own service learning program and earn credit through that self-directed process.

Student advocates for school change Youth Undoing Institutional Racism - Students have designed a multi-point school change agenda that includes student involvement on the school board of education.
